06.19.11 Bottoni -- Sunday's Trend Report

First off i'd like to wish everyone a Happy Father's Day! Maybe your dad can help you tell us what your favorite trend is because today is a Sunday Trend Report! :)

One of the newest trends that designers are producing is clothing with a new twist. Many designers including Emilio Pucci, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli, and Dior are including pieces that have used crochet and macrame tehniques.

With the heat of the summer there was no question that these looks would be a success and inspire mainstream clothing lines. But what is macrame? What is crochet?

Macrame and crochet are intricate details made with materials such as knots of rope, leather, yarn, or twine in instances of macrame fashion and loops of yarn in crocheted pieces.

Click for ways to tie in crochet and macrame pieces to your wardrobe this summer!
Popular ways to encorporate this trend in to your wardrobe are crocheted or macrame handbags and crocheted tops. Both of these styles add a bit of 70's and vintage flair to outfits and will sure to keep you fashionable with the current runways.

Check out these links for some items I like :)

This top is a staple in any girl's closet who wishes to be up to date with the summer's runway styles. The simple white top can be paired with a pencil skirt and pumps for a more professional look. However, the crochet detail can also be dressed down with a pair of jean shorts and wedges.
The crochet look does not always have to be the clean and simple top. I love this Urban Outfitters scrunched black top because of its edgy take on the summer trend. A pair of vibrant shorts and sandals would create a perfect and fashionable summer outfit.
Crochet pieces also do not have to be white. Any color top can work beautifully with crocheted detailing like the top seen above. Because of its longer length a more bohemian look could be achieved with sticking to earth tones and loose fabrics.
