Ciao a tutti! My name is Candace, or Bottoni :) As you can tell this blog does not have a very generic title. My best friend Morgan, and collaborator for this blog, and I spent a while trying to pick something that captured the essence of our blog and was still unique to us. Bottoni & Beoteuneul is special to us because it combines the languages we are currently studying and have an enormous love of similar to fashion and style the emphasis of this blog. Morgan and I plan on living together after college and traveling to Italy and Korea, but for now we are working on this blog hoping to spread our "passion for fashion." Our styles often puzzle those who surround us, yet we both find everything about fashion from materials, zippers, and buttons and buttons, or bottoni and beoteuneul. :)
And to give you some more background on my own personal style I have used the same format as Morgan and answered some questions below.
1. What is your favorite accessory? I absolutely love accessories. Any kind of accessory has the sole ability to transform an outfit for an occasion, style, or purpose. If I had to chose one type of accessory it would be scarves. In the case of jewelry, lately I have been obsessed with layering bracelets and my all-time favorite long necklaces.
2. Who's your role model? My role model is my mom, Laurie.
3. What do you always carry with you? I love purses, but sometimes I don't want to carry around my usually large bags; however, I always carry some cash in my wallet, cell phone, and some kind of i.d.
4. What would you describe your fashion style as? My fashion sense as often been criticized for "not matching" or looks like I "get dressed in the dark" but I differ from those styles because I don't stick to rules or "fashion" dictated by an eagle, moose, or seagull. Adjective wise: Unique, Vintage, Sophisticated, Artsy, Dowtown, Chic, Bold, Rocker. As well as a very different style, so I often use the term "salty and sweet."
5. Favorite: jeans, sunglasses, heels? My favorite jeans are my dark wash Levis. My favorite sunglasses were giraffe print from Charlotte Russe, but now i'm temporarily rocking some from WalMart. My favorite heels would be my Black Ruffle Pumps from some store.
6. What inspired you to make this fashion blog? I'll save this story for a later post, but a short reason would be my love for fashion and my hope to spread it through blogging and digital media similar to how I blog and use tumblr.
7. What is your favorite fashion store/shop? The grocery store. Fashion wise I don't really have a favorite store. I like things and I don't like things about stores including Forever 21, Target, Belk, and Urban Outfitters. Really I think some of the best stores are off the wall or local shops found downtown or in little hole in the wall locations. Thrifting is also a really great way to shop so stores like Goodwill can also produces some great finds.
8. What is your favorite fabric in clothing? I adore leather. Absolutely leather, hands down. Cotton would be my number two because of its universality. I like how cotton can take on so many forms and textures.
9. Who is your favorite designer? My favorite designer would probably be Christian Siriano or Michael Kors.
10. Who/What inspires your fashion? I don't think I have one main source of inspiration for my fashion. If I can pick something up and picture a million ways to wear it, I most likely have fallen in love.
11. What would you choose to do - buy something in high quality or make it yourself if you can? Make it myself and make it look like I bought a high quality piece.
